Dr. Patrick J. Paterson is a professor specializing in international security, national security affairs, foreign policy, conflict resolution, and Latin America. As Associate Dean for Research and Publications at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Studies at the National Defense University, Pat lectures, publishes, and speaks throughout the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean on the use of force, civil-military relations, ethics, conflict resolution, and international security. A former Naval diplomat and college professor who is bilingual in English and Spanish, Pat brings a deep understanding and love of Latin American culture and politics to his work.
